Use Gemini in Gmail, Docs, and Sheets

A personal Google AI plan and a Workspace work account are different. Starter lists Gemini in Gmail. Standard lists Gmail, Docs, Meet, and more. Docs on a personal plan is listed for Pro and Ultra. Illustration, not a Gmail screen.

1. Personal Gmail, Docs, and Sheets

We checked gemini.google/subscriptions on October 20, 2026.

• Google AI Plus lists Gemini in Gmail, Vids, and more.

• Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra list Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Vids, and more.

Checked the same day, with the page set to the United States: Google AI Plus was $4.99 a month and Google AI Pro was $19.99 a month. ChatGPT Go and Plus prices are in getting started with ChatGPT or Gemini.

That page does not name Sheets on the personal plans. If Sheets matters, confirm it on the subscriptions page the day you subscribe. Plan names and included apps change.

The same page says Google AI plans, and Gemini for Gmail, Docs, and more, are for ages 18 and over. A personal plan needs a Google Account you manage yourself.

2. Google Workspace

Google's help says that starting in January 2025, Gemini features were added to Business and Enterprise Workspace subscriptions. The older Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise add-ons are no longer for sale.

Which apps you get depends on the edition. On October 20, 2026, the Workspace pricing page showed:

• Business Starter: a Gemini assistant in Gmail

• Business Standard: a Gemini assistant in Gmail, Docs, Meet, and more

The comparison table also has rows for Gemini in Sheets, Slides, Drive, and other apps. The check marks differ by column. Read the row for the edition you pay for. We are not guessing a check mark the page did not spell out in text.

Google's feature article says highlights include a side panel in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Chat, and Help me write in Gmail and Docs. It also says to review the list for your edition, because not every highlight is on every edition.

3. Open it and check the draft

Google's learning page says you open Gemini from the Ask Gemini icon, usually at the top right of the Workspace app. In Docs you can use the side panel or the bottom bar. In Gmail you can use it to write or refine a message. If the icon is missing, your admin may have turned the feature off. Follow that help page, because the icon can move. We are not showing a fake Gmail screenshot.

On Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus, a super admin can turn Gemini features and the side panel on or off for Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Vids, Meet, and Chat. The default is on. Users also need smart features and personalization turned on.

A prompt you can paste once the panel is open:

Rewrite this email in a warm, short tone.
Keep every date, price, and name exactly as written.
Do not add an offer I did not type.

Read the result. You send the email.

4. Privacy on a work account

On a work account, Gemini stays in the organization. A personal account follows a different privacy notice. Diagram: Sac Business Launch.

Google's Workspace help says interactions with Gemini stay in your organization, and that your content is not human reviewed or used to train models outside your domain without permission. That is a different setup from a personal ChatGPT or Gemini account. The personal settings are in the AI safety guide.

Common mistakes

• Buying a personal Ultra plan for a staff mailbox that should be on Workspace.

• Assuming Business Starter includes Gemini in Sheets because Standard includes more apps.

• Sending the draft without reading the price it may have changed.
