What you'll need

  • What you sell, where you work, and who you serve

  • Facts you want used word for word

  • Our Google description guide if you want the profile rules in one place

1. Draft the Google description

Google's help says the description can be up to 750 characters, with no URL and no HTML. Do not put a promotion or a price in it. AI tools like to add both. The prompt below tells the tool not to.

Write a Google Business Profile description of 500 characters or fewer
for a Sacramento mobile dog groomer.
Facts: we come to homes in Sacramento and West Sacramento.
We groom dogs only.
No prices, no URL, no phone number, no discount, no HTML.
Plain sentences. Do not invent awards or years in business.

Count the characters before you paste. If you need the click-path to edit the profile, use write your Google Business Profile description.

2. Draft the website intro

The website can say the things the Google description cannot. Ask for a separate paragraph.

Write a 70-word website intro for the same dog groomer.
Include this price only: baths start at $60.
Include this link only: https://example.com
Say we come to the driveway.
Do not invent reviews.

Replace the example price and the example link with yours. Read the paragraph out loud. If a sentence is not true, delete it.

3. Check the draft against a short list

  • The city and the service area are places you actually serve.

  • Any year, license, or "family owned since" line is true.

  • The Google version has no price, no link, and no coupon.

  • The website version uses your real URL.

Common mistakes

  • One draft pasted into both places.

  • A description that names a discount.

  • Letting the tool add "best in Sacramento" or a star rating.
