A suspended profile does not show to customers. It is stressful, but there is a clear path to fix it.

What you'll need

  • The Google Account that manages the profile

  • Proof with your exact business name and address, such as a business license, business registration, tax certificate, or a utility bill (electricity, phone, water, or internet)

  • A short, factual explanation

Why do profiles get suspended?

Google says it may suspend or disable profiles that do not follow its guidelines. Common problems to check, from Google's rules:

  • Extra words in the business name, like cities, services, or slogans

  • A P.O. box, virtual office, or address where you do not meet customers shown on the profile

  • More than one profile for the same business

  • Phone numbers or links that send people somewhere other than your business

Read Google's guidelines (linked in Sources) and fix anything that does not match before you appeal.

  1. Open the Google Business Profile appeals tool (linked from Google's help page in Sources).

  2. If you are signed in to the right account, select Confirm. Otherwise select Switch account.

  3. Select the profile, then Continue.

  4. Select the decision you want to appeal, then Continue. Google shows the reason and the policy.

  5. To add proof, select Choose file. You can attach several files.

  6. Type a short explanation in the text box.

  7. Check the box that says you are ready, then select Submit appeal.

Google emails you the decision. You can check status in the same tool: Submitted, Approved, Not Approved, Can't be appealed, or Eligible for appeal.

How to fix a duplicate profile

Google allows one profile per business. A duplicate will not show on Search or Maps.

  • You made it by mistake: remove it from your account (More, then Business Profile settings, then Remove Business Profile). Double-check it is the extra one. Removal deletes its content and managers.

  • Two listings sit on Google Maps: report it on Google Maps with Suggest an edit and ask for a merge. Google says reviews combine, but replies to reviews may be lost.

  • Someone else verified it: request ownership. They have 3 days to answer.

  • You moved: do not make a new profile. Edit your address on the existing one.

  • You offer many services: list them on one profile, not separate profiles.

Common mistakes

  • Creating a new profile while suspended. It makes the problem worse.

  • Sending proof with a different name or address. Google asks that documents match the profile.

  • Appealing before fixing the problem. You only get one appeal per decision.

  • Paying a stranger to "reinstate" you. Google does not charge for this.

Questions people ask

Should I just make a new profile?

No. Google says do not create a new Business Profile for the same business. That creates a duplicate, which breaks Google's rules.

How many times can I appeal?

Google says appeals can only be submitted once per decision. If it is denied, you may be able to request one additional review with new evidence.

How long does an appeal take?

Google says appeal reviews can take up to 5 business days. Do not send more appeals for the same issue while you wait.

Someone offered to get my profile reinstated for a fee. Is that Google?

No. Google says it never asks you to pay to have your profile verified or reinstated.

We will look at the site you already have and email what to fix first.
