Wrong hours send people to a locked door. Google gives you a few different hours settings. Here is which one to use and how.
What you'll need
Your regular open and close times for each day
Dates you will close or change hours (holidays, events, vacations)
The Google Account that manages your profile
Which hours setting do I use?
How to set your regular hours
Open your profile. On a computer, search Google for my business. In the Google Maps app, tap Business at the bottom right.
Select Edit profile, then Hours.
Next to "Hours," select Edit, then Open with main hours.
Check the box next to each day you are open.
Use the dropdowns to set open and close times.
Select Save.
Split day (like a lunch break): add the first set of hours, click Add hours, then add the second set for the same day.
Open 24 hours: for that day, click Opens at, then 24 hours.
How to set holiday or special hours
Use special hours when your hours change for a short time, or you close for up to 6 days in a row.
Go to Edit profile, then Hours.
Next to "Special hours," select Edit.
Pick a date. Select Review to confirm a suggested holiday, or Add a date for your own.
If you are open, uncheck Closed and enter your hours. If you are closed, leave Closed checked.
Select Save.
Special hours only show if your main hours are set to Open with main hours.
How to set More hours (takeout, delivery, senior hours)
Go to Edit profile, then Hours.
Under "Add more hours," choose a type, like "Delivery" or "Senior hours."
Pick the days and times, then click Save. Repeat for each type.
Google says More hours do not show until your regular hours are set, and should usually fall inside your main hours.
How to mark the business temporarily closed (and reopen)
Go to Edit profile, then Hours.
Next to "Hours," select Edit, then Temporarily closed.
Select Save.
To reopen, go back to the same place and choose Open with main hours, then set your hours and save. Google notes that for broad searches, temporarily closed businesses can rank after open ones.
Common mistakes
Putting hours in your business name, like "Open 24 Hours." Google does not allow it.
Using Temporarily closed for one holiday. Use special hours instead.
Forgetting seasonal changes. Google says you can use your current seasonal hours as your regular hours.
Forgetting to reopen. Put a reminder on your calendar.
Make sure your website shows the same hours as Google. Our Free Website Check helps spot mismatches.
Google changes Business Profile screens often. We checked these steps in October 2026. If a button looks different, the Google help pages below have the latest.
Questions people ask
Do I need to set holiday hours if I am open like normal?
Google says it is a good idea to confirm your hours for official holidays even if they match your regular hours. It tells customers your hours are accurate.
We close for a two-week vacation. What do I use?
Mark the business Temporarily closed. Google says use that for closures of 7 or more days in a row. Use special hours for shorter breaks.
Can I show a lunch break?
Yes. Add two sets of hours for the same day, like 9 AM to 2 PM and 5 PM to 10 PM.
My business is by appointment only. Should I list hours?
Google says some businesses, including those that operate only by appointment, should not provide hours. You can choose Open with no main hours.
We will look at the site you already have and email what to fix first.
