Posts are short updates that show on your profile. On a computer they appear under "From the owner." On phones they show in the "Updates" or "Overview" tab.
What you'll need
A short message (what is new, and what you want people to do)
A clear photo or short video
A link for the button, like your booking page
Dates, if it is an offer or event
Which kind of post should I use?
How to create a post
Open your profile. On a computer, search Google for my business. In the Google Maps app, tap Business at the bottom right.
Select Posts, then Add post.
Pick the type: Update, Offer, or Event.
Add your text and a photo or video.
Add extras if you want, like a Button (Book, Order, Learn more) or a Coupon code for offers.
To post later, turn on Schedule this post and pick a date and time. To repeat it, use the Repeats menu.
Select Post. If you manage more than one profile, choose where to share it, or select Skip.
How to edit or delete a post
Select Posts.
Next to the post, select More.
Select Edit or Delete.
When you change your hours, Google may add a post about it automatically. You can edit or delete that post the same way.
What should I post about?
Ideas that work for most small businesses:
A new service or product, with a photo
A seasonal reminder (for example, AC tune-ups before a Sacramento summer)
An event, workshop, or open house, with dates
A real offer, with clear dates and terms
A behind-the-scenes photo of your team at work

Common mistakes
Phone numbers in the text. Use the Call button.
Typos and filler. Google asks for clear, professional posts.
Offers on a hotel profile. Google does not allow hotels to post offers.
Promoting regulated products, like alcohol or tobacco, in the post content.
Your post buttons send people to your website, so make sure it is ready. Our Free Website Check can help.
Google changes Business Profile screens often. We checked these steps in October 2026. If a button looks different, the Google help pages below have the latest.
Questions people ask
How long do posts stay up?
Google says posts older than 6 months are archived unless you set a date range, like an offer or event with dates.
Why was my post rejected?
Common reasons in Google's rules include phone numbers Google cannot connect to your business, spammy text, bad links, or content about regulated products. Check the status next to the post for the policy it broke.
Can I schedule posts ahead of time?
Yes. Turn on Schedule this post and pick a date and time. You can also set a post to repeat weekly, monthly, or on a custom schedule.
We will look at the site you already have and email what to fix first.
